Sept. 19, 2001 was just an ordinary day. Or so I thought. Coincidentally, I wore my cute dress. I went to work then went to our devotional.
The devotional usually starts with a prayer and this time the lights went off. And the brother was praying for a sister. Something like, “She’s my best friend…she’s special to me…” I don’t really remember. I thought “Oh gosh, this brother’s going to be reprimanded.” In the singles ministry of our church, we protect each others feelings. If a guy loves a girl (vice versa), he can’t let his feelings directly known to her unless he knew from the sister’s prayer partner or discipler that she loves him too. And not without the permission of the leaders. If anyone gets busted, it doesn’t happen in front of the one he loves. So all of us are spared from so much embarassment and hurt.

Okay! So after the prayer, my (now) hubby is now standing in front of the whole singles ministry with a microphone. He’s singing the song “I Will Be Here” with minus 1 accompaniment. Even now I can still feel the thrill! They were all teasing me and the sisters were also feeling thrilled. But I think I was still clueless not until a sister wisphered to me, “He’s now going to ask you to be his girl!” I have no idea that this is how it’s done in our church. Being a 1 yr and 2 mos. old Christian, I haven’t seen an event such as this in the church. Then, they let me go in front beside the man.
He’s now saying his speech like, “I knew from when we had our first date that I like you….etc.” Then he said, “Jona, I want to tell you that I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?” (waaahhhhh!) Shocked, I said, “Amen bro!” Hahaha!
He gave me a bouquet of white roses. That’s the first time I received a bouquet of flowers. I felt so special. They all congratulated us. During the whole devotional I was on cloud 9 and I don’t understand a single word being said. Haha!
This photo was after the celebration at Pizza Hut in Greenbelt. We passed by Oakwood in Glorietta. And when was the first time I told him I love him? I don’t really remember. I think it was inside the bus on the way home.

I still owe you the story about how we came to this point. Stand by for that
