Sweet Saturday 21: Cloud 9

Wooohhh! Time really flies. It’s Saturday once again and time for Sweet Saturday.
It’s the last week of the month. No discussions today. But wouldn’t you just love to share a photo or photos of you and your hubby in your latest happenings together? You could also share about a memorable event from the past.

This was us 10 years ago and just dating. I’m still giddy when I look at this photo.

Cloud 9 in Antipolo City was where we had our 1st date. He asked me for a date and we went together with church friends, a dating couple. It’s my first time to go there and we were just in time to see the overlooking view of the very lovely sunset over the entire Metro Manila. No wonder couples or even not couples turn romantics when they reach the place. How they called the place is just apt.

We came back to Cloud 9 when we’re dating already. I hope we could take the kids there someday. It’s very far from Laguna.

Sweet Saturday 06: Our Engagement

Welcome to Sweet Saturday!

I want to share with you how we were engaged 7 years and a healthy crown of hair ago.

In May 2003, we were 1 year and 8 months into our bf-gf relationship. I thought it’s just one ordinary date. We were on a double date with hubby’s twin bro and a sister. I even thought it was boring since bf doesn’t initiate for us to have our own talk time. But instead we talked as a group. We went to APEC Park near PICC beside the bay and had dinner of grilled pork and hotdogs there. I thought there’s nothing special about this date and I was starting to feel annoyed with bf.

After dinner we walked towards Century Park Hotel and went up to the Penthouse. After sometime, I was wondering why bf was taking long in the restroom. And then I heard the song “I Will Be Here” being played live in the piano. I didn’t know that my sister and our friends were already at the other side of the room waiting for the moment. I was totally surprised when he came back with a buoquet of flowers and looking even more handsome with his new attire.

“Will you be my wife?” My mind went blank for 5 seconds. And I needed to drink water to catch my breath.

Everyone was waiting for my reply. Then finally I said YES! And he slipped the cute gem to my finger.

Were you thrilled?

Couple’s Corner: First Time He Told Me Loves Me

Sept. 19, 2001 was just an ordinary day. Or so I thought. Coincidentally, I wore my cute dress. I went to work then went to our devotional.

The devotional usually starts with a prayer and this time the lights went off. And the brother was praying for a sister. Something like, “She’s my best friend…she’s special to me…” I don’t really remember. I thought “Oh gosh, this brother’s going to be reprimanded.” In the singles ministry of our church, we protect each others feelings. If a guy loves a girl (vice versa), he can’t let his feelings directly known to her unless he knew from the sister’s prayer partner or discipler that she loves him too. And not without the permission of the leaders. If anyone gets busted, it doesn’t happen in front of the one he loves. So all of us are spared from so much embarassment and hurt.

Okay! So after the prayer, my (now) hubby is now standing in front of the whole  singles ministry with a microphone. He’s singing the song “I Will Be Here” with minus 1 accompaniment. Even now I can still feel the thrill! They were all teasing me and the sisters were also feeling thrilled. But I think I was still clueless not until a sister wisphered to me, “He’s now going to ask you to be his girl!” I have no idea that this is how it’s done in our church. Being a 1 yr and 2 mos. old Christian, I haven’t seen an event such as this in the church. Then, they let me go in front beside the man.

He’s now saying his speech like, “I knew from when we had our first date that I like you….etc.” Then he said, “Jona, I want to tell you that I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?” (waaahhhhh!) Shocked, I said, “Amen bro!” Hahaha! :D

He gave me a bouquet of white roses. That’s the first time I received a bouquet of flowers. I felt so special. They all congratulated us. During the whole devotional I was on cloud 9 and I don’t understand a single word being said. Haha! :D
This photo was after the celebration at Pizza Hut in Greenbelt. We passed by Oakwood in Glorietta. And when was the first time I told him I love him? I don’t really remember. I think it was inside the bus on the way home.

I still owe you the story about how we came to this point. Stand by for that :D
